Deep Snow & Steep Fall Out in Oregon

27 October 2025 at 08:27

This morning I woke up to the feeling of the tent walls closing in on me. I opened my eyes and realized that they were starting to sag inward. Because the tent walls were covered in so much sleet and snow! I shook them off and the tent expanded magically. It was currently raining or sleeting still, and had clearly accumulated to some degree. I was so glad to be in Sprinter’s tent though, and to not have to worry about packing mine up, ...

Avoiding a Storm in the Colorado Mountains

24 September 2025 at 11:38

This morning it felt so good to sleep in for a little while. I wasn’t feeling rushed at all. Technically, I’m not even supposed to be here right now! My hope was to leave around 8-8:30 AM. So it felt like there was a lot of time. I slept in and then eventually got up and ate some of my leftovers. I still have a bunch of drinks left over from last night too.
Eventually, I actually got packed up and ready to go. ...

Running into Hiker Friends in the Middle of Nowhere

12 September 2025 at 18:27

This morning when I woke up, I was definitely feeling a whole lot better than last night. My headache was gone and my hives were already significantly better. Fortunately, I’ve been carrying a topical cream since Florida which helps a lot on various hives and skin reactions. I’m so glad I held onto it because I’ve probably used it on four different occasions this year at least.
I wasn’t planning on having a super early start to the day, ...

A Forest Fire Started Just Ahead of Me

12 August 2025 at 13:56

This morning I got up just before 7 AM and started packing up. Once everything was put away and situated, I laid in bed and did a little more writing and video work. Then right around 8 AM Noelle got up and drove me back to the trail. I had such an amazing time staying with her last night! She was so nice and I felt so happy and comfortable in her home.
When I did get dropped back at the trailhead, ...

Trail Magic, Slack Packing, & a Hiking Buddy

4 July 2025 at 22:09

This morning I woke up around 5AM in the room, knowing I could stay forever! But the terrain lately is so slow going. I need all the time in the day that I can get. I got packed up and then Mike came to pick me up and bring me back to trail. But not before we stopped off for a quick breakfast. After grabbing a coffee and a breakfast sandwich I was good to go. ...

Patience & Preparation to Get Back on Trail

10 June 2025 at 15:37

This morning, I got up around the usual time and went to breakfast with everyone. It’s been cool having so many southbound hikers around recently. Their energy is very exciting, as their journey is only just beginning. After breakfast, I headed upstairs to get ready. Which really just entails putting my contacts in, combing through my hair, and brushing my teeth.
Usually, I use coconut oil to keep my hair tame. I ordered some more and it got sent to my dad’s house. ...

The Hardest Day Mentally: A Full Week Off Trail

3 June 2025 at 19:57

This morning when I got up I could tell I was sore from my short walk last night. Which is wild! I can’t believe a half mile could wear me down. But obviously my body just isn’t ready for that yet. It’s still sore and healing. I probably shouldn’t have pushed it. Though I’m kind of glad that I did. Because it would have only been a matter of time before I tried to walk a bit further. ...
